Barrel Roll FAQs

  1. Program Overview

What is the Barrel Roll Program?

The Barrel Roll Program™ is Winglore’s custom bottling solution for groups and individuals who want a bottle that means something. You choose your liquid, customize your packaging, and walk away with a whiskey that tells your story.

Who is this program for?

The Barrel Roll Program is for anyone with a story worth putting in a bottle — whether that’s a squadron milestone, a corporate team looking for a signature spirit, a whiskey enthusiast pursuing a specific flavor profile or finish, or an individual marking a moment that deserves more than a gift card. We work with military units and squadrons, flight schools, corporate teams, whiskey clubs, nonprofits, and individuals. If you have a story, a mission, or a moment worth commemorating, we want to hear from you.

Can you help us develop the story or theme for our release?

Yes. Storytelling is at the heart of the Barrel Roll Program. We’ll work with you to define the narrative, key moments, and symbols you want captured on the bottle, then integrate those elements into naming, design, and any supporting materials.

Can you help us with promotional material?

Yes. We can create a one-page flyer to help you promote your bottling and collaborate on social media posts to bring awareness to the release. We see these projects as partnerships.

How do I get started?

Fill out the inquiry form and we’ll reach out to schedule a call. The first conversation is about understanding your vision — no commitment required.

  1. Liquid (Whiskey Options)

What types of whiskey are available?

We specialize in American Single Malt Whiskey and Straight Bourbon Whiskey. As an independent bottler, we’re always exploring new whiskeys and spirits from trusted sources — if it fits the mission, we can source it.

Can I customize the liquid profile?

Yes. Options include age, mash bill, proof, blend, and special finishes such as rum cask or cuvée. Selecting certain characteristics may limit other options (for example, a specific proof may not be compatible with certain finishes), our team will walk you through what’s possible. Any additional costs tied to blending and finishing will be discussed upfront.

Can I request a specific spirit?

Yes. During the consultation we’ll explore the specific flavor or liquid direction you’d like to pursue. Most barrels are sourced through our trusted network of distilleries, and where appropriate, we can approach new partners to procure product that meets your needs.

Do I get to taste before I commit?

For barrel picks, tasting samples can be arranged, in certain circumstances, if desired. We pride ourselves on the quality of our liquid and our Master Blender’s selection capabilities. As part of the process, you will consult with our Master Blender to explore options and ask questions so that your Barrel Roll meets your expectations.

  1. Packaging & Label

What bottles are available?

We offer several bottles at different price points, including 700 mL and 750 mL formats. Options include:

  • Winglore Custom (700 mL) – Our premium, aviation-inspired bottle with built-in design elements and existing Winglore branding.
  • Imperial (750 mL) – A classic silhouette with a high degree of label customization possible.
  • Vida (700 mL) – Our most economical option, with the largest label canvas and the highest level of personalization.
Can I choose a different bottle?

Possibly. We’re willing to consider this in limited circumstances or if you already have the bottles. Reach out to discuss.

What can I customize on the label?

Customization depends on the bottle:

  • Winglore Custom – Customizable primary strap and neck labels, with the option to add a custom badge label and embellishments. Many squadrons and organizations keep our core label and add a badge label to make it their own.
  • Imperial – Customizable front label, personalized copy on the back label, and optional neck label. Upgrade options include paper selection and embellishments.
  • Vida – Full label customization with your own graphics, logos, and personalized copy on a large-format label.
Do I need to provide a design, or can you help?

Both approaches work. You can: (1) provide a completed design and we’ll get it print-ready, (2) provide artwork, logos, and direction and collaborate with our design team, or (3) bring nothing but an idea and we’ll start from scratch. AI tools are a helpful starting point for mocking up your initial vision before our first design consult.

Can I see examples of past Barrel Roll bottles?

Yes. Examples are featured on the Barrel Roll page, more examples can be shared during the design process.

  1. Minimums & Pricing

What is the minimum order quantity?

Most Barrel Roll projects require at least one barrel, which typically yields 195–250 bottles depending on proof and barrel size. For customers selecting a core product blend rather than a single-barrel pick, a 10-case minimum applies. A small-order premium applies to lower volume orders.

How much does it cost?

Pricing depends on several factors: bottle choice, label design, liquid profile (type, age, proof, finish), and order quantity. We provide a detailed pricing estimate after the initial consultation once we’ve aligned on the key elements and target volume. As a reference point, most projects fall in the $85–$95 per bottle range for a standard 200-bottle bourbon bottling. Projects have ranged from below $80 to above $110 per bottle depending on complexity. Small order sizes, highly customized liquid or packaging, and high-proof selections increase the per-bottle cost. The price includes all wet goods, dry goods, compliance, design, project management, bottling, print tooling, and every other input required to complete your project.

Do I pay everything up front?

No. Here’s how it works:

First, we’ll provide a transparent proposal that breaks down the price per bottle and includes estimated taxes, logistics costs, and any accessories. You review the full picture before committing to anything.

Once you’re ready to move forward, we collect a deposit. For most projects, that’s a standard 10% non-refundable deposit. In cases where we’re procuring a special barrel or covering unusual upfront liquid costs, the deposit may be higher — we’ll tell you that clearly in the proposal.

About 2–3 weeks before bottling, we’ll send a final invoice for the balance. That needs to be settled at least one week before bottling begins.

  1. Shipping & Delivery

What states do you ship to?

We work with US-based clients nationwide, subject to state-specific compliance. Certain states may carry higher compliance or shipping costs (e.g. Alaska or Hawaii), which will be reflected in your final pricing. A current list of available states is maintained on the Find Page. If your state isn’t listed, contact us — availability may change.

What if our group is spread across multiple states or locations?

We routinely work with groups whose members are in different locations. During the planning phase, we’ll discuss whether centralized delivery, individual shipments, or event-based distribution makes the most sense.

Can I pick up my Barrel Roll order?

Yes. Pickup is available in the Chicago area or Washington, D.C.

  1. Timeline & Process

How long does the process take?

Most Barrel Roll projects run 2–6 months depending on complexity and availability of liquid and materials. As a planning benchmark, expect around 3–4 months from deposit to delivery.

What does the process look like end to end?
  • Introduction & Exploration – We learn about your vision, answer questions, and establish the direction of the project.
  • Mockup & Scope – Initial mockup created based on early design guidance. Decisions are made on target case volume, liquid selection, packaging direction, and delivery logistics.
  • Order & Deposit – All order details are captured on a detailed order form. Deposit required to move into label creation, procurement, and production planning.
  • Liquid Track – Confirm liquid direction (spirit type, proof, finish), conduct blender consult, and finalize liquid selection.
  • Packaging Track – Refine packaging from mockup to final state. Regulatory approvals secured, technical print files created, and final label approved by you before printing.
  • Final Payment – Invoice sent for balance payment, including shipping and applicable state taxes. Must be settled at least one week before bottling.
  • Bottling – Liquid and packaging come together and are boxed for shipping.
  • Delivery – Bottles shipped to your location through Winglore’s retail fulfillment partner for compliance purposes.

  1. Fundraising

Can we do a fundraising or charity-focused release through Barrel Roll?

Yes. We’ve worked with nonprofits and organizations to raise funds for charitable causes. Where there’s values alignment, Winglore may donate a portion of Barrel Roll proceeds to a charity. We consider this on a case-by-case basis — reach out to discuss.
